Michael Avagliano, Owner

Michael has been working in the instrument business for more than 16 years. He first studied restoration and repair under Thomas Sparks at Indiana University, and later worked with Al Stancel, Richard Menzel and Julie Reed-Yeboah. After returning to his home state of New Jersey, Michael was sales director for Machold Rare Violins in New York for 4 years. He's also attended the Oberlin Restoration Workshop and there worked with David Burgess and Michael Fischer.

As a professional violinist and violist, Michael has a keen understanding of tone production and comfort for players. This knowledge helps him to bring the sound a player wants out of their instrument.

When he's not in the shop, Michael is the violist of the Madison String Quartet, and an active freelance musician in the New York area.
